Walkthrough Pokemon Black English Version Part 3

POKEMON BLACK AND WHITE WALKTHROUGH

More Team Plasma Problems

When you get back up to the Museum, you'll see Lenora confronting Team Plasma, who will steal the head of the Dragonite fossil to make a stand for Pokemon liberation and then disappear with a puff of smoke. Lenora will run out after them and, when you follow, you'll see her talking to an unnamed man outside. Lenora will introduce him as Burgh, who is the Castelia City Gym Leader, and Bianca and Cheren will enter at this point too. Lenora decides to split everyone up to track Team Plasma; she'll search east, you and Burgh will search Pinwheel Forest to the west, and Cheren and Bianca are to stay behind at the Museum. Talk to Bianca to receive the Itemfinder "Dowsing MCHN" key item, which is used to locate hidden items on the overworld. Follow Burgh west into the Forest outskirts.

Once you enter the outer section of the Forest, Burgh will lead you into the Forest proper. However, the outskirts have some items, new Pokemon and Trainers to be addressed first. Talk to the first girl you see and she'll give you TM94 - Rock Smash, a weak Fighting-type move that has a 50% chance to lower the target's Defense. This is no longer an HM, but you can still teach it to your Pokemon to break small rocks on the overworld, much like in Generation II. If you return briefly to Nacrene City and go through the hole in the fence left of the Cafe, you can reach a dead end with a hidden Super Potion. Go south to find a Nurse who has a Munna; after battling her, she'll heal your team as many times as you need. Go through the break in the fence to her right to find an Ether.
The tall grass in this area contains four new Pokemon. N used two of them: the Water-type tadpole, Tympole, who gains a Ground-type in its second and third stages, and the Fighting-type Timburr, whose third stage has one of the highest Attack stats in the game but requires trading, much like Machamp. Also found here, but much more rare, are Throh and Sawk, two Fighting-type counterparts dressed in gis. Sawk is more common in Black, while Throh is more common in White; the rarer fighter for your version has a 5% chance to appear in a shaking patch of grass in place of Audino. Any of these Pokemon are worth owning at this point in the game. South of the Nurse, you'll see two Preschoolers hanging out on the traintracks: a male with a Roggenrola and a female with a Petilil and Cottonee. Beyond the male Toddler is a Great Ball on the ground.

Continuing south from the Preschoolers, you'll face a Youngster who has three Tympole before emerging in a section with a large puddle. The item ball to your right is an Antidote, and in a puddle below it is a hidden second Antidote. If you take the path in the southwest, you'll find a Super Potion in plain sight, some more double battle grass, and a dead end with a Tinymushroom hidden in a small puddle. Go east of the Antidotes to fight a Youngster with a new Bug/Poison-type Pokemon, Venipede, and a Lillipup. Ascend the stairway and you'll find two trainers, a Black Belt and a Battle Girl, who each have one Timburr. If you have a Fighting-type Pokemon, you can check Challenge Rock here each day for a Star Piece, and an Ether is hidden above the puddle to the northeast. Go down the other staircase to find a Net Ball, hop the ledge, go north and enter the Forest proper where Burgh did.

When you enter, Burgh will explain that Pinwheel Forest has two paths, a short straight road and a long path through the woods, and he'll conveniently decide to look for Plasma on the road while making you take the longer way. Go left and fight the Twins with two Sewaddle, a Grass/Bug-type worm. Just below them, you'll see a male Plasma Grunt who will challenge you with a Sandile; it is a Ground/Dark-type, so any of the Starters can handle it. Left of this Grunt, you'll find the first tall grass of the forest and, if you go southwest, you'll find a Big Root on the ground; this hold item increases health restoration from draining moves, so you can give it to a Pokemon that knows Mega Drain for now.
Three new Pokemon can be found here in each version. Grass/Bug-type Sewaddle and Bug/Poison-type Venipede are in both; neither is bad, particularly for early-game Bug-types, but you've encountered more useful Pokemon already. Also, as previously mentioned, Petilil and Cottonee are version-exclusives; their evolutions, Lilligant and Whimsicott, are also pretty decent, with Lilligant learning Quiver Dance, although they both require a Sun Stone to evolve. In addition to these four Pokemon, Pinwheel Forest has several more who only appear in shaking patches of grass, including Audino yet again and Lilligant and Whimsicott, although they're still version-exclusives. Also appearing in the Forest's shaking grass are all three of Pansage, Pansear and Panpour, regardless of your Starter!

For now, fight the Plasma Grunt above the Big Root; she only has one Purrloin. Above her are a male Pokemon Ranger with a Herdier and a large moss-covered rock. While this rock is pointless right now, it is the place where you evolve Eevee into Leafeon when older Pokemon become available, as this is Unova's Moss Rock. The Pokemon Ranger will give you two Chesto Berries for defeating him; nearby is a Super Potion on the ground, and south of that is a hidden Tinymushroom. Trek west of the Super Potion to emerge near a Youngster with a Venipede and a Timburr. Continue along the path to find an Antidote in a log; as you progress, Carmen Sandiego a female Pokemon Ranger will jump out of hiding and battle you with her Pansage. She too will give you a couple of Chesto Berries after you win.

Go north of Carmen and follow the path through some tall grass until another female Pokemon Ranger battles you; this one has Panpour and will give you two Pecha Berries for defeating her. The stump below her contains a hidden Tinymushroom. Continue through the right log to fight a male Plasma Grunt with a Patrat. Descend the log and follow the path until you get to the Parlyz Heal; yet another Ranger, this one a male, emerges from a bush to battle you with his Pansear. After he gives you two more Pecha Berries, go south and east to get the item to his right: TM86 - Grass Knot, a Special Grass-type move that deals damage based on the target's weight. Go through the log above the male Ranger to fight a male Plasma Grunt with two Patrat and a Sandile. After defeating him, he'll turn over the Dragonite fossil's skull at last!

After you retrieve the fossil, one of the Seven Sages of Team Plasma, Gorm, will come to talk to the Grunt that you defeated. As the two confront you, Burgh and Lenora will enter and the Team Plasma members will vanish from the Forest. After returning the fossil to Lenora, she'll give you a Moon Stone, which evolves a few kinds of Pokemon including Munna, and she and Burgh will exit right. As you follow them, you'll see a Miracle Seed on the ground, as mentioned earlier, and you can hop over the ledge. From here, you can go south to fight some optional trainers: a female School Kid with a Pidove and a Purrloin, a Lass with three Woobat, and a male School Kid with a Munna. Otherwise, go north to leave the Forest.
Skyarrow Bridge and Castelia City

The Skyarrow Bridge connects the Forest with the next City, but there are no Trainers nor wild Pokemon. Talk to the Hiker in the first outpost to receive a Quick Claw, a hold item that gives a Pokemon a small chance to attack first, and then enter Castelia City, which is the largest metropolis in Unova and possibly the entire Pokemon World yet. In addition to a main horizontal street, Castelia has five offshoot Piers and four vertical roads: Castelia, Mode, Narrow and Gym Streets, from right to left. Keep in mind that Castelia City is pretty non-linear and you can go through any street in any order. To start, go immediately south and talk to the Scientist-looking guy on the pier. He'll ask you about Pansage (top), Pansear (middle) or Panpour (third option) and, depending on your answer, he'll give you the elemental stone that evolves that Pokemon. This is the only pier worth visiting currently.
Main Street

Back on the main street, you'll see the Pokemon Center if you need to heal or buy some items. The green building after this is the Battle Company; the "President" will tell you to come upstairs to take part in battles. There are two choices in the elevator: the 47th and the 55th floor. On the 47th floor, you'll find a Revive on the ground, a man near a TV who will give you a Quick Ball and a Timer Ball, and a guy near a filing cabinet who give you a Scope Lens, which increases you chance for a Critical Hit. The Trainers on this floor include: a male Scientist with a Roggenrola; a Businessman with a Timburr; another with three Basculin, a Water-type fish; an Office Lady with a Petilil and a Cottonee; and another with a Herdier.

Upstairs, on the 55th floor, you'll see a Hyper Potion on the ground and several more trainers: a Business Man with a Woobat; a Manager who uses the three monkeys; a male Scientist with a Sewaddle; and a female Scientist with a Munna. Talk to the Janitor in the top-right corner to battle his Trubbish, a Poison-type garbage bag Pokemon, and Minccino, a Normal-type chinchilla. After defeating him, he'll give you an EXP Share, which can be attached to a Pokemon so that it receives EXP Points even when it doesn't enter a battle. You can leave the Battle Company now. Further down the horizontal street is the Passerby Analytics HQ, where you can get a upgrade to the C-Gear to ask surveys to other characters. After answering some surveys inside, you'll also get a free Soda Pop.
Castelia Street and Central Fountain

Castelia Street is the first vertical street, just right of the Pokemon Center. In the first building on the right here, speak to the girl to see a picture of Zorua for the Pokedex, in case you don't have the event Zorua. Back outside, the next building has a girl that will groom your Pokemon once per day and, on the upper floor, a Hiker will give you TM44 - Rest, which restores the health of your Pokemon but puts it to sleep for two turns. At the end of any of the four vertical Streets in Castelia City, you'll come to the Central Fountain area, where you can buy drinks in the vending machines. Speak to the dancer near the fountain to battle his Pansage. Answer yes to his question to enable battles against his two counterparts in Castelia City; if you find and battle both, he'll give you an Amulet Coin, which is a hold item that doubles money earned from battles.
Mode Street, Narrow Street and Liberty Pier

Take the path southeast of the Dancer at the Fountain to enter Mode Street. This Street has an ice cream stand and art gallery; the clown in the latter asks to see Pokemon of a specific type and gives you five Berries if you have one of that type. In any season but winter, you can buy Casteliacone at the stand on Tuesdays; like Lava Cookies, this hold item heals any status effect of one Pokemon. Going southwest of the Dancer at the Fountain leads to Narrow Street, a run-down alleyway. You'll find one of the Dancer's friends right away; talk to him and defeat his Panpour and he'll return to the Fountain. Below him, you'll see a small Cafe on the right; you can talk to the waiter inside for a free Lemonade. Continue going down and a dodgy-looking man will jump out of a dumpster to give you TM70 - Flash, which lowers the target's Accuracy. Go south to leave Narrow Street and then go down to the Pier immediately in front of you to find the last Dancer, who has a Pansear. He'll return to the Fountain as well, at which point you can get the Amulet Coin.
Gym Street and Team Plasma

The westmost street in Castelia City is Gym Street, which is where the Castelia City Gym is located, naturally. When you try to enter, Cheren will emerge, chat a bit and then leave, and Burgh will do the same. Since he left, you can't challenge the Gym right now, so follow them south to the horizontal street and then to the third pier from the left, which is the center one. Here, Burgh and Bianca will be talking to another girl named Iris until a Team Plasma Grunt sneaks up behind you all. Burgh will chase after him, so return to Gym Street and you'll fight a male Grunt with two Sandile. The four of you will enter the building and stand off against Ghetsis, two Plasma Sages and three Grunts; one of the latter will release a Munna to Bianca and then they'll disappear. Your group will talk and a bit and then disperse, with Iris giving you a Yache Berry and Burgh returning to his Gym, so grab the Smoke Ball that Team Plasma left behind and then go across the street!
Castelia City Gym

As Burgh specializes in Bug-type Pokemon, the Castelia City Gym is modelled after a honeycomb. To navigate through the Gym, you'll have to cross annoying barriers of honey, which require that you walk through the center of the wall, and from more than a step away or else you'll be blocked. You'll also have to open gates in the Gym from hitting one switch apiece from the gate's left and right. Cross the first honey wall and hit the switch to open an inaccessible gate to the left as well as the left post on another gate to your right. Go east to fight the Clown with a Sewaddle and Venipede and hit the switch next to him to open the next gate. In the section of the Gym past the honey wall that you just opened, you'll find three more locked gates and several switches. The button immediately ahead is a trap containing a Clown who uses a Sewaddle and a Dwebble, a Bug/Rock-type hermit crab.

Fight the trap Clown if you wish, and then hit the buttons to the immediate northeast and northwest to open the gate straight ahead. Behind this honey wall is the switch that opens the right post of the gate leading to Burgh. Head back across the honey and continue to the left. Step on the switch in front of the gate for which you just opened the right post, which will open another gate to your left, and then cross through the honey wall below you. The next switch that you see is another trap with a Clown who has a Sewaddle. In the room above him, hit the switch to open yet another gate; retrace your steps and cross the honey barrier of the newly-opened gate. Inside you'll find another Clown, this one with a Venipede and a Sewaddle, and the button that opens the second half of the gate blocking the stairway to Burgh. After opening it, feel free to heal at the Pokemon Center, as the Gym's puzzle won't be undone if you leave. Otherwise, go up the stairs and challenge Burgh.

Burgh's team is a lame mix of mediocre Pokemon with weak moves, so he shouldn't pose any threat if you've been fighting the game's Trainers. He leads with the Bug/Poison-type Whirlipede, who is Venipede's evolution; it has decent Defenses but low Attack stats, so he may try using Screech to soften up your Pokemon for Poison Tail and Pursuit. Bug/Rock-type hermit crab Dwebble is filler that only has decent Defense, so stick to Special moves. Finally, Burgh's main Pokemon is Sewaddle's final evolution, Leavanny, a Bug/Grass-type that knows String Shot to slow you down and Protect to stall. Its main attack is Razor Leaf but, while it's a STAB move coming off base 103 Attack, the low Base Power means that it won't present much difficulty. All of Burgh's Pokemon also know Struggle Bug, a very weak Special Bug-type move that lowers your Special Attack; since many of the Pokemon strong against Burgh at this point use Physical moves, Struggle Bug shouldn't hinder your team much.
Burgh is a joke against Pignite, as he has nothing to counter a Fire/Fighting-type and Flame Charge or Rollout will make short work of his entire team, especially Leavanny. Dewott's Shell Blade can take down Whirlipede and Dwebble, but you'll want to retreat when Leavanny enters. Servine is stopped cold in this match, as all of Burgh's Pokemon have Struggle Bug and Whirlipede also has Poison Tail for added damage. Roggenrola is handy because it learns Rock Blast and has high Defense against Burgh's Physical moves; Timburr is also great because it resists most of Burgh's moves but learns Rock Throw for double damage. Despite its type advantage, Pidove isn't that helpful because its STAB moves run off its weaker offensive stat and are suseptible to Struggle Bug and Dwebble's STAB move, Smack Down, is strong against Flying-types. Psychic-types will also want to avoid this match due to Struggle Bug, Faint Attack and Pursuit, although Whirlipede's low Attack won't be damaging much with Pursuit.

When you defeat Burgh, you'll receive $2760; TM76 - Struggle Bug, an extremely weak Special Bug-type attack that lowers the Special Attack of the target by one level; and the Insect Badge, which makes all Pokemon up to Level 40 obey you.
